Performance/Defect Investigation

Building Sciences can undertake detailed investigation of heat, air or moisture performance problems in new or existing assemblies/buildings.

Investigations typically involve specification and detailed drawing assessments, site investigation using non-destructive testing techniques, or the physical 'opening up' of the affected construction.

Full written reports are provided with photographic records (still and video where appropriate) of any site 'opening up' investigations.

Opinions can be provided on why performance failure has occurred, and suitable remedial works to eliminate the problem. Expert witness services can be provided in situations where legal proceedings have, or may, be instigated.

Product Assessment

Building Sciences can conduct detailed investigations of products/components to be used to investigate or rectify performance failure of the building envelope. This work can be undertaken on behalf of manufacturers and/or potential end users.

Investigations typically cover theoretical performance, performance in use and physical testing of the product in question.

Technical Literature & Writing

Technical literature and writing on products can be undertaken for manufacturers. Services range from writing full brochures, to providing general information for use within marketing material.

Seminars & Training

Seminars and training can be undertaken to varying groups within the construction industry on the theoretical and practical performance of building envelope assemblies in relation to heat, air and moisture flows.

Previous presentations have ranged from small site presentations to specialist sub-contractors, office based presentations to design team members and presentations at national conferences. Seminars are specifically tailored to the requirements of the client.
